ROLE: Engineering / Architectural Technologist

LOCATION: Tuam Office

We are looking for suitably qualified candidates to work primarily in our property surveying service “MyPropertySurvey.ie” and providing support to our other services “MyMaps.ie” and “My3D.ie”. The role will be based in our Tuam office, but it will also require travel within Galway and Mayo, so a car and clean full drivers licence is essential. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake the following:

1. Work as part of a small focused team, which is dedicated to delivering the services of My Engineer Ltd.

2. Have a good knowledge of the Building Regulations and Planning Law and be able to evaluate buildings, structures and legislation.

3. Have a good knowledge of AutoCAD / Revit and be able to survey and prepare drawings of existing buildings, sites and maps, to a high standard.

4. Have a good knowledge of Microsoft Word / Excel and be able to edit and issue technical engineering / surveying reports to a very high standard. The candidate must be fluent in English.

5. They should also know how to conduct a planning search and to negotiate the planning archives of the Planning Authority. They should also know how to prepare a planning application and utilise the new online planning portal.

6. They should be familiar with mapping procedures, surveying and land registry mapping requirements.

7. They should be fully familiar with different building systems and construction technology.

8. Experience in the use of of thermal imagery technology is desirable.

9. The Applicant should possess a full clean Driver’s Licence and provide their own transport for property inspections (Mileage will be reimbursed as part of the remuneration package).

In terms of qualification, we are looking for a candidate that may either be a graduate, graduate with experience or someone who has experience but wants a new opportunity. In general, the following qualifications will be considered:

• Level 7: National Diploma / Ordinary degree in Building Surveying, Civil Engineering or Architectural Technology.

• Level 8: Honours Degree in Building Surveying, Civil Engineering or Architectural Technology.

When we look at qualifications, it is not just the end result that we consider, we will also need to see interim results as we want a candidate with a consistent work ethic. In terms of experience, the job opportunity is open to graduates, so summer jobs and anything else that shows a good work ethic is important. For experienced candidates we would like to see a clear and concise timeline from graduation to present. Membership of a professional body is not a requirement, but it is something that will be encouraged when working with My Engineer Ltd.

The candidate will be expected to be familiar with My Engineer Ltd and the component services that we offer, so it is advisable that you review all of our dedicated websites and understand the various services that we offer.

OUR WORKING WEEK: We work a full working week in 4-days (8:00am - 5:30pm, Monday to Thursday). You will be expected to be flexible with timing during the working day in order to accommodate property inspections and working away from the office. Lunch times are flexible, but generally 30 minutes in order to facilitate the 4-day working week.

SALARY: Negotiable, depending on qualification and experience. For reference the average salary for a Civil/Architectural Technologist is between €36-€48k in Galway. However, we will also be taking qualification and experience into consideration.
